With entertainment playing an even bigger part in all of our lives, more and more students are coming out of film school with high hopes of making it big in ‘the Industry.’ I created this site to help up-and-coming filmmakers in the North Texas area to remain informed about independent film news and equipment.
Our content includes:
NEWS – Your North Texas Independent Film News Source – We strive to keep you informed of all developments and current events in the independent film scene of North Texas!
EQUIPMENT – A handy source of information on software, cameras, lighting, and other important tools in filmmaking, including reviews of newly released and developed equipment and fresh ideas on cheap alternatives to professional (expensive) tools.
MULTIMEDIA – For our users who aren’t fans of reading, this page is dedicated solely to videos and content featured on our site other than our print stories. Each story comes with a brief description of the print version to explain its context. This page is for the visual learners. (We are about filmmaking, after all.)
I am an Electronic News major at the University of North Texas. I have trained on many of the same tools that independent filmmakers use to capture their images and sound. I also closely follow news about the independent film circuit and have many friends and colleagues who struggle everyday to get their films viewed by an audience, so I have gained a great deal of knowledge on this subject.
I feel that film is an extremely important part of most Americans daily lives and can have a great deal of influence on how future generations will view us. We as filmmakers have a responsibility to our audience and ourselves to be constantly striving to improve in our storytelling and image-capturing abilities. This site was created with these principles in mind.
